"Shadow Blade Zero" developer comments on Xbox: No one needs this platform
Xbox unpopular in Asia: Chinese game developers sharply criticized
Recently, at the ChinaJoy 2024 exhibition, Brazilian media gameplayscassi reported on the sharp comments made by the developers of Shadow Blade Zero on Xbox.
When S-GAME developers were asked at the show about the platform release of Shadowblade Zero, their response to Xbox hit the nail on the head: "Nobody needs this platform."
They added that Xbox had little market share in Asia and that the "overloaded ecosystem" Microsoft had built had made game development for the Xbox Series X | S difficult.
During the exhibition, ChinaJoy's reporters also exchanged questions with representatives from Game Science and S-GAME Studios about the exclusivity of the PS5. The developers revealed that they do work closely with PlayStation's gaming department. PS provided full support for the promotion of "Shadow Blade Zero" at home and abroad, but the two sides did not have an exclusive agreement.
It is worth noting that the Xbox does face some challenges in the Chinese market. On the one hand, Chinese gamers are more familiar with Japanese game brands such as PlayStation and Nintendo; on the other hand, Xbox has relatively weak local promotion and content support. Therefore, Xbox's poor performance in the Asian market may also be expected.
